Kelly Nixon Branch Director
Kelly began her career in childcare management as a center director and trainer on an acquisition team. After 10 years in management , she decided to use her Bachelor’s degree to become an educator. After 22 years in a middle school classroom, she has come full circle back into a director’s role. She started at HLOKC as a fitness instructor in 2017. She has been teaching group fitness classes here in the evenings. Maybe you’ve taken a class with her? She is excited to now be full time continuing to build friendships and help people connect within our many programs. We welcome her with open arms!
Ginger Kunkle Development Director
Ginger is a native Oklahoman and OCU graduate, recently returning after 17 years of living out of state. She has enjoyed a career in the operations, marketing, programming, and development of multiple nonprofits. Most recently, she served as Development Director for a food bank in southern Louisiana. Ginger is a certified nutrition coach, certified volunteer administrator, and avid distance runner, so she is very excited to be on board with a unique nonprofit like Healthy Living OKC where she can play a role in creating healthy active lifestyles for our members! Ginger resides in Newcastle with her husband of 18 years, Gerald, who is a radar engineer at the National Severe Storm Lab, and their furry children.
Debra McTaggart Program Manager
Debra retired in 2019 after 50 years of working for several Fortune 100 companies in various roles of finance, health insurance, and Human Resources/Learning & Development including management positions. She came to HLOKC offering to volunteer, but when we learned of her career expertise and experience, we convinced her to come out of retirement! She has volunteered with many organizations like the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, local food banks, and a board member/treasurer of her homeowners’ association. Most recently she has become a certified volunteer trainer for the Family To Family program offered by the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Cheryl Ford
Cheryl Ford graduated with a BFA from Phillips University. She has worked in the art field for over 40 years. Her main passion is to help others discover their own creative self.Her accomplishments include:• Recipient of the Governor’s Arts and Education Award• Selected as Oklahoma Teaching Artist with the Oklahoma Arts Council• Honored for establishing the Leonardo’s Children’s Museum in Enid, OK
Susie HoustonVolunteer Coordinator/Community Relations
Susie brings 30 years of sales experience to HLOKC, As a Territory Manager, she called on retailers in Oklahoma and West Texas and was in the Top Ten in her company many years running. Susie loves working with Healthy Living OKC Volunteers and visiting with our members. She raised 2 boys and has 7 grandchildren that she enjoys spending time with, along with her Bichon dog, Coco.
Irene Brooks Fitness Coordinator
Irene has a BA in art from CSU, retired from AT&T, and is ACE Fitness certified. Her favorite classes to teach are kickboxing and weight training.
